The Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) has an emerging career initiative focused on veterans. Specifically, the college's Veterans in Energy Training Project now has a Blog. In this Blog, CCAC student veterans will gain access to the latest updates, news and resources to leverage their opportunities within the energy sector.
Veterans in Energy Training Project Update:
- Networked with employees at Chevron. They said their best advice for student veterans to gain access to a job in the energy sector is to follow the company websites in their “career” section and also on LinkedIn.com as a company to “Follow.”
- In research and conversations with professionals in the field, many leaders have indicated that positions in the small to medium size companies are on the rise. Increasingly, we are seeing careers emerge in the energy sector that pay in the $30-000 to $80,000 range, depending upon the position.
- Our survey to better understand CCAC student veterans needs remains open and is available at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JRNDKVT. We encourage 100% participation. The more we know about you, the more we can help you succeed. You will need to sign in with your CCAC email address.
- Our Veterans in Energy Training Project website is a terrific tool to learn more about our emerging initiative, including tools, resources and essential information for your success. The website is located at http://www.ccac.edu/default.aspx?id=152954.
- If you are serious about gaining a position upon graduation or even after you have graduated, then you are strongly encouraged to post your resume on www.collegecentral.com/ccac. We have employers who visit this site and are proactively looking for students and veterans with specific degrees.
