Stephen Johnson, an environmental health and safety emergency response manager for Range, spent most of his career as a general in the Marines. He had no oil and gas background when he moved back to his native Washington County three years ago, but 'the growth of the natural gas industry here in western Pennsylvania is something you can’t miss,' Johnson said. Knowing that, he began to make contacts in the field, and six months ago, Johnson landed his job with Range. It’s been an easy transition, he said. 'Military people have tremendous skills in communication, mechanical things, coordination of transportation,' he said. '(They) are used to a 24-7 lifestyle. Everybody has basic security and safety hammered into them constantly, and it’s a very important thing here (at Range).'"
